Loma Linda Tuno Review

Hello all! Hope you’re all having a good week. As we can start to see a potential glimpse of spring, (if you squint your eyes really tightly!) I’ve been wanting to try more fresher meals. So I decided to try this tuna vegan alternative. Loma Linda focus on sustainable plant-based protein and have an entire range of seafood alternatives. Tuno is made from soya protein and I decided to try their Tuno in Spring Water.

I will be completely honest, when I first initially opened the tin, I was not pleased with the smell. It initially put me off, however, this can be a common occurrence with tinned products. When I saw the texture of the ‘tuno’ I noticed how it was more chunky rather than flakey which is how I remember tuna to be. As I began to taste it however, it definitely reminded me of tuna. The taste had a subtle fishy note to it and notes of tuna.

I decided to try it as part of a ‘tuna and sweetcorn’ jacket potato and I feel like this was the perfect product for replicating that. As part of a bigger meal it really worked well and came together nicely. I would recommend Tuno if you are craving tuna and want to have it as part of a bigger meal. By itself I wouldn’t be so sure about it but that is just my personal preference.
